The
responsibility for your discharge is the decision of an anesthesiologist.
At the time of discharge, the nurse will review written instructions
with you for your care at home. Feel free to ask questions.
It is important you understand these instructions. We will
give you a copy to take home with you. We will also review
these instructions with the person who accompanies you.
If you are accompanying a child in a car, you must have another adult with you at the time of discharge and an age appropriate car seat.
As the patient, you should have another adult with you for the first 24 hours after surgery. You should not drive, operate machinery, drink alcoholic beverages, make any important decisions, or take drugs other than those prescribed by your physician for at least the first 24 hours.
